Honey solutions for treatment: In viral keratitis, it is recommended to use honey-based solutions, which can be applied to irrigate the affected surface or as compresses and ointments, often in combination with antibiotics. For making eye drops and compresses, a 30% honey solution is prepared. It should be noted that the use of pure honey is also possible; however, it may cause burning and discomfort, which usually disappear after a few minutes.

Erythromycin ointment for eyelids: In keratitis, it is extremely important to treat the eyelids with erythromycin ointment specifically designed for ophthalmological use.

For 15 years, I had frequent recurrences of viral (herpetic) keratitis. Outpatient and inpatient treatment at an eye disease clinic did not help, and the recurrences of keratitis continued. Using aloe and honey in my eyes also didn’t help. Then, I noticed a natural antiviral remedy - garlic, which is used in folk medicine to treat herpes on the lips. Direct application of garlic juice in the eyes is impossible due to severe burning and irritation.

Experimenting on myself, I found that garlic can be safely applied to the eyes through the skin of the eyelids by moistening them with garlic juice diluted with water (Transdermal delivery of medicines through human skin is known in medicine, but it is not applied to the eyes). The phytoncides in garlic penetrate the eyes through the eyelid skin and inhibit the multiplication of the herpes virus. There is no burning sensation in the eyes, and they remain calm.

I use this recipe for garlic infusion: A clove of garlic is crushed over a tablespoon; the juice and pulp are placed in a vial from a liquid medicine with a volume of 30 or 40 ml and are filled with a tablespoon of boiled cooled water. The shelf life is 3-4 days when stored at room temperature and up to 10 days when continuously stored in the refrigerator.

After preparation, the infusion can be used immediately; infusion (the extraction of garlic juice from the pulp) will occur during storage.
Cover the open neck of the bottle with a finger, shake it, and use what remains on the finger to moisten the eyelids of closed eyes. Wait 1.5-2 minutes for the liquid to absorb into the skin and repeat the eyelid moistening.

For one procedure, several drops of the infusion are used, which contain a microscopic amount of garlic that poses no danger to the eyes. For complete safety, after moistening the eyelids, it is sufficient to keep the eyes closed for 1.5-2 minutes to allow the eyelids to dry.
With the microscopic amount of garlic contained in a few drops of the "infusion" used for one procedure, there is no odor.

To prevent recurrences of keratitis, I MOISTEN my eyelids with garlic infusion DAILY at least 3 (3-6) times a day. At the first signs of a recurrence of the disease (this occurs 1-2 times a year), I perform this procedure once every hour during the day and once every two hours at night. By acting this way, I have lived for 18 years without recurrences of keratitis, successfully fending off attempts at recurrences that continue to this day.
Moreover, I do not adhere to any restrictions placed on patients with recurrent keratitis - I do not overcool, do not overheat, do not go to the bathhouse, do not sunbathe, etc. - I live the life of a healthy person.
I am fortunate that the corneal opacities after all keratitis occurred on the periphery of the eyes outside the pupil zones and did not affect my vision. Years of daily use of garlic have not affected my eyelids and eyes in any way - I have normal eyelid skin and normal vision.
